Ski Conditions

Our season has ended and we thank all who joined us on skis at Great Brook Farm State Park.  Sustained cold weather made it an especially enjoyable winter, both for the prolonged packed powder conditions and for the deeply frozen ground which allowed adequate amounts of parking for the first several weeks.  Mud eventually closed the outer parking lot but the groomed ski trails stayed open for 49 days.  It was a real winter!

Reliable parking remains a serious concern for the ski concession as Great Brook's unusually short ski season requires high visitation for the business to be viable.  The ski community should applaud the efforts of Rep. Simon Cataldo (simon.cataldo@mahouse.gov) and the Friends of Great Brook Skiing (email to join:  fogbski@gmail.com) in working with DCR to enable adequate improvements to the outer parking lot.   If successful, they will have done much to protect the future of skiing at Great Brook.  Please express your support, and we hope to see you next year.
